How can i fix my rover 45?

I have a Rover 45 1.4i. recently had the water pump changed and coolant re-newed. After a week the car keeps overheating and the coolant is like a brown sludge. Is this likely to be the head gasket?

it is a thick brown sludge?
have not looked at he dip stick or oil filler cap but will go have a look tomorrow thanks guys.

it sounds lyk it you should be able to tel if u look it the dip stik there will be water in with the oil and if you take the iol filler cap off there mayt be a creamy sludge. it will be about 250£. job
