While trimming the hem I cut the dress. It is rayon. Is there any way to iron on a patch? Would the fray check work? It is a long, black dress and the cut is on the side at the hemline. Any suggestions?

I am not an expert. But can you try to iron a fusible interface on the wrong side of fabric? I know rayon might melt if the iron is too hot, so you will have to test it first.

Or can you shorten you dress ? or crochet a lace on the hem of your dress. ( That is what I am going to do to my lengthen my dress. I gusee I will show you how it looks after it's done)
