where does the non return valve fit in a ka steering rack?

whilst replaceing a steering rack in a ka the non return valve fell out when removing the rack.
where does this go the top of bottom conection and which way round.

it has to fit valve to the outside spring to the inside otherwise it wouldnt allow fluid through.

Hi Dave, it fits in the high pressure port supply line that comes from the pump past the pressure switch and then onto the rack, the other line from the rack goes to the oil cooler and then to the fluid resevoir, as to which way it fits there is no mention of this in the Ford manual Just a big caution note to not allow it to fall out!!!! but you might be able to work out which way it will allow flow and fit it so that allows flow into the rack?
