White Knight Sensordry tumble dryer makes a awful noise when drum going?

White Knight Sensordry tumble dryer (WK447) makes a awful noise when drum going as if something catching on it. This also happens when turning it manually. Have looked inside and there was a cover dislodged and fluff everywhere. Now secured cover down and cleaned but still makes the noise though not as bad. Any ideas? Are there bearings or something similar to go? If so how much to repair?

I didn't get to see what was inside the casing as I couldn't take the copy off. It was towards the front of the machine and about 8" in diameter. I don't think it is the fan because when you turn the drum by hand it still makes a sort of rubbing noise. The belt is still complete and appears tight, but could it be that?

when you are talking about the cover are you refuring to the cover on the motor fan housing in the base.could be a faulty fan or something inside the fan housing
