my battery will not charge on my 96 renault clio rt?

My battery will not charge on my 96 renault clio 1.4 rt. Aternater works. Got a new battery for it and it just loses power. It just dies whilst driving, then I cant start it. It will start with a jump and sometimes with a bump but not always. Any ideas?

What voltage is the alternator giving at idle and at 2500 revs.
Repeat test with all electrics on (rear demister, full beam lights etc.).
Does the alternator light come on with the ignition then go off when car is started?
