How do I replace the fan in a Zanussi TC180?

I can get the back and side panels off but still cannot get access to remove the fan. Do I need to dismantle the motor? The more I go on the more it looks like a complete strip down which cannot be right surely?

Hello Nick, I'm no expert but my TC180 was making a terrible noise and I think I've tracked it down to the Dryer Fan.I've probably dismantled the machine far more than is necessary trying to get the motor and dryer fan off but after taking the side off and a couple of small screws out (one of which holds down a metal plate) one needs to tap the whole motor assembly with a small hammer towards the front of the machine and out it comes.I can now see that the shaft which drives the dryer fan is terribly worn and the splines are all worn off. In fact the fit is so loose I don't know how the motor has managed to drive the fan at all. I can't tell if the fan slot is worn as well but I see the fan is the first item listed on the TC18 Espares site!! I fear that if I buy a new fan(£14.49 + del) it will still be loose because the shaft is so badly worn. I'm not sure what to do now but this is obviously a design fault. The TC180 is an expensive machine and this should not happen.

I would assume the motor has to come out to gain access to the fan
