Sukida starting?

Well I thought it would be better if I made my own question.. Instead of high jacking someone elses...

As to the question.. I have issues with my Sukida SK 125-2 with starting. It simply doesn't like starting when the bike is WARM. I have no problems starting cold, I put on full choke, use the starter and it comes to life. Its only when I travel some where and turn the engine off and try and start it again it just refuses... I thought ok maybe its flooded itself but when I open the throttle when im riding I dont get any boggyiness to indicate that its flooding nor can I smell petrol. Ive done the usual checks, carb, airfilter and plug and everything seems to be ok. Strangly I can't start it with the electric starter or the kick start but it will start if I bump it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Scott.

Adam? Would you still insist on the valve clearance?

Thanks for you prompt response. Its not that the bike runs worse when getting hot its just when I turn it off and then immediately try to start it and 20mins thereafter I have problems. I have previously done the tappets on my bike (it also happened before I done this) and I done it to what the manual said which was 0.05mm inlet 0.50mm intake... However this made it very noisey.. I could REALLY hear the tappets which I thought was strange. So I did them both at 0.10mm which seemed to stop the noise but didnt do anything to the starting problem.

What I can't understand is how come it will start when warm if I bump it but it will simply refuse if I use the starter or kick start. If I give it a really hard kick, basically jumping on the kicker with all my weight it sometimes starts.

I will await your response before doing the tappets again just to see if you still think that will help.

Many thanks,

Scott.

Scott i work on lots of bikes as im a motorcycle mechanic and one of the problems that chinese bikes suffer from is tight valve clarances the metal the chinese use is not as good as the japs and the valves seats recess into the head quite quickly and therefore the valves tighten up.the right clearances set on top dead centre are approx .10mm-.014 on the exhaust and .08mm-.012 on the inlet.obviously set them when the engine is cold.as you say the bike runs worse as it gets hotter this is a classic symtom of tight valves as the thermal growth is high in the head area due to the hot gases passing through it which tightens the clearances up.there will be amark on the magneto/rotor to set the clearances at look for a T mark and a F mark set it on the T mark but you can get the timing 180 degrees out so have the spark plug out whilke your doing it and shine a torch into the plug hole to see if a valve is down if it is then turn the crank one more 360 degree turn to get it back onto T.D.C (top dead centre).
