REMOVE BEARING ROD FROM Hotpoint Aquarius WD61?

Can anyone tell me how to remove the bearing rod from the back of my Hotpoint Aquarius WD61 in order to replace the bearing. I can't seem to get the nut to turn no matter how much force is used. Is there a reason for this??
Can anyone help, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I have removed the main bearing nut from my hotpoint aquarius WM71n. Get an assistant to hold a long bar in one of the 'pockets' on the outer drum to stop the pully turning against one of the spokes. Using a good fitting socket and a length of pipe, unscrew the nut. Its locktited (thread locking glue), and very tight, right hand thread.
