How do I fit a impeller in my 1991 55hp Suzuki outboard?

I have installed the impeller but the gear changing shaft will mnot relocate within the gearbox.

attempting something like that is only for the pro i would recommend letting someone in the know how it would be worth it in the end as it is essential that any outboard be serviced properly.
