the main reason why it stopped is the termostate near the setting knob has melted by leaving for long time in the higher setting so it overheats, melt the mechanism and it does not more contact, so the electricity do not pass , the solution it is to replace the whole thing with a new one, but good luck with that, I found myself just buying a new one because I could not get the part, and I only could fix it to direct and I imagined the whole thing melting and my house in fire...but maybe you are more successful than me....
