My hotpoint trips the electrics. why??

Our hotpoint ultima tdc60 recently had a new heating element fitted by a local appliance engineer. Since then it works okay for a short time and then trips the electrics. I called the engineer out again but when he came the machine worked perfectly. Since that visit we have not been able to use the machine as it constantly trips the electrics. The engineer told me that it was probably because there is a 'box' surrounding the heating element made of fibre board that can get damp with condensation which in turn trips the switch. Is this correct? We have only had the problem since he fitted the new heating element. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

i have the same problem (if i disconect the wiring to the heater at muti plug dryer works but NO heat ) however just found this and going to try it now
how can i fix my hotpoint aquarius tdc32 condenser dryer?

have a read of the answer below
it most likely a heater fault, its possible that small metal object is lodged around heater causing short circuit, turn off, take lower back plate off & have a look. hopefully your find something, if you do it will have probably blown the thermistats so you will need to replace. If not you will prob need to replace heating element, its a simple job, dismount heater, refit new one then refit one cable at a time. Look for parts on e-bay prices pretty good, good luck.
