The pickup/s are in the right hand engine case (small one with suzuki printed on it)like a bandit or a gsxf.i would have alook at those first.you can do a test on them with a diode(led) get a led and wire it to the live and earth of the pick up and get a metal instument like a spoon or something and flask it past the pick up point (metal sticking out bit) and see if the led lights up slightly also there will be a resistance test in ohms in a manual.there is also a specific gap that they should have from the pick up rotor measure it with a feeler guage and set it to the manuals spec. There are lots of things that cause a loss of spark but i would advise checking the pick up/s first if you damaged it there.

well the bike is a k reg quite old now and hard to get parts. the ecu unit is attached on the right side fairen for the seat which hit the floor to so could that be a prob. also the coils are tucked under the tank and there is no charge going to either one. do you know if there is any hidden fuses that could cause the prob or cut of switch?

it will have damaged the pick up coils i expect what year is the gsxr?

thanks mate for your help but if i damaged the timing in any way there still would be a spark to the plugs woudnt there, or would that just knock it all out. it hasnt started since it happened but i sorted the cassin out the same day but i didnt think to look inside the gubins?

hi,

When you say broke the timing case was it just the case or the internals. There is a lot of gubbins in there that is very delicate and sounds as though you have made something loose or damaged something. Did it run ok after your slide or has it not run since. If it was the former you have done some damage under the cover. However if it is the later, I had an old GSX 1100 and did the same thing and broke the timing case. water got in in after leaving it for a day or so and it would not start had to dry everything. It will be a process of elimination.
