K93 G Carriage won't knit, slams needles back to A position?

I can't get my G-Carriage to work on my KK93. it sporadically slams some of the needles back to A position. and the yarn won't catch at all. I don't see any bent needles or posts. what might i be looking for?

just to be clear if your needle bar is worn then the needles do not sit in right position for the garter carriage bending the g carriage needle as it tries to operate.
if you have an older machine that requires a sponge bar and are unable to get one, try ebay etc , I have a trick for that!

you need a new needle retaining bar on your knitting machine.
