Window in 216 coupe(wires)??

I live in Ireland and when REALLY cold(all time)! Window goes crunch-Taken it apart and found a (wire) fraid!! Can i use a bicycle cable? Or go through another 8hours of crap?? ALSO does anyone know where you can get a manual on a 98 216 coupe T-Top as Haynes useless!!!
