I have an Iveco Daily on an 02 plate.
The heating works but not very well. During tick-over it will start to get hot and blow hot air into the cabin. However as i begin driving, at night for instance, it goes cold again and refuses to get hot unless I drive the thing at 90 mph!!
In the summer its fine as the outside air temperature is higher but in these wintery months its a nightmare driving it anywhere as its freezing cold all the time...

Can anyone help please?????

hi, my heating isn't working on iveco daily 2005 van. I had the thermostat housing changed at a garage, but still no heating..?

I've just flushed my heater matrix out. Take both the pipes off (that come out of the bulkhead). I undid mine underneath the header tank and at the bottom of the engine (battery side). I then fired the power wash into the hoses and loads of sludge came out before clear water started to flow freely. Put everything back together, fill with antifreeze and run the van to check for leaks and air locks. My van is now warm, well worth the half hour I spent!

oh dear.. so it could be the head gasket then??
I didnt realise it could be such a big problem to be honest.
Also, recently I have noticed that every now and then its started to loose power ever so slightly. Just on the odd occasion and the best way to describe it is if it were a petrol engine it would feel like a spark plug was shot or a misfire..
I thought that might just be down to the injectors and getting them cleaned out might just solve that one..

I have checked the oil cap as well and I cant see any traces of water in there. No creamy residue or anything..
I did have a water leak on it a month or so ago but that was a split pipe and I have that replaced so I know thats ok.
I just find it wierd that it only uses the water when I drive it at speed to get some heat into the van... but then when its idling at tick over the temperature gauge goes up normally...

Maybe the garage that sold it to me a year or so ago had a hunch that something was wrong with it and decided to let it go before it went on them meaning they didnt have to pay for any repairs on it...

Yeah the heater matrix replacement doesnt sound like a nice job at all.
I dont think its blocked though as there is planty of air blowing through there if I turn up the fan speed to full...

Is it worth getting the thermostat changed first to see if that might solve the heating problem? Then again, that wouldnt explain the reason why I'm losing water when the engine is hot.... hmmmm...
Each way I look its leading to lots of £'s being spent on it which is gonna be a little tricky at this time of year...
Talk about a catch 22!!!

if you are using water and there are no leaks you should have the cylinder head gasket checked.
a haeter matrix would have to be blocked partially to do what you are describing .
if it was leaking then you would have water in the cab .
to do a heater matrix you have to remove the dash assy .not good

well I've noticed that whenever I do drive it at speed during the night to get some heat into the van, I have to fill the water back up as it runs almost dry(the tank on top of the engine near the back). Also, if I stop somewhere and the van is ticking over, the temperature needle starts to rise the heater blows hotter again but as soon as I pull off and sit at around 60mph it gets freezing cold again..
This has only been a problem in the winter. In the summer the temperature gauge is always higher up. I took it to the garage I bought it from and keep getting told that the outside temperature would make a big difference and in the winter everyone's heaters dont get as hot! I'm smelling some BS there myself as my car has always been fine as have other vans I've had in the past...
Go figure..

Not sure how I check the coolant temperature to be honest and someone else has mentioned the thermostat as well..

That said, someone has also said it could be the heater matrix which sounds like a big job which I dont really want to go down...
