I have the same problem - can you explain exactly how to 'drill out'the pop rivets.?

Thought I'd add my input as I've just replaced a faulty lock on my Ka and found andy's post very helpful in doing this. Biggest problems I had were:
1. figuring out how to remove the window winder handle - use a small screwdriver to bend out the plastic sleeve and there is a metal clip, pry this loose and the winder pulls off.
2. the anti theft cover, as andy states this is rivetted in, the rivets need completely drilling out. Afterwards you will need to secure the cover using nuts and bolts.
3. Removing the retaining ring - mine was slightly rusty and I had to use some plus gas on it, then using a screwdriver in the closest hole around the outside edge of the ring (there are two) use a hammer a knock anti clockwise until free.
A fiddly job but worth it when done.

the handle on the outside of my drivers door isn't working. is this an easy problem to fix? it opens from the inside but not outside?

Andy's answer was helpful and I changed my daughter's Ka lock this eve, it took 3 hours and was very fiddly. I changed the door handle at the same time. Just to note that 2 of the screws on the door card are not easy to find. 1 sits behind the electric window switch and another is at the very bottom edge of the card towards the front.

i have done quite a few of these ,bit of a pain.firstly you need to remove the interior door panel, various srews and clips hold this on.be gentle they brake easy, rip off the black plastic allowing you to look into the inside off the door.you will see a black box(cover)at the lock mechanism.anti theft device.you need to remove this.on the door check ,below the part that locks onto the b post there are two pop rivets drill these out then cut the black sealer away around the box, pull this free.you should now see the back of the lock.using a screw driver twist the retaining rings anti clock wise on the back of the lock from each other.these are solid.once free jiggle the lock, pop the small connecting rod out of the end of the lock.now reverse the above process.make sure the black cover is secured as this affects how your window goes up and down
