How can I fix my Gainsborough 8.5E shower?

When I turn my shower on water runs down the wall. When the shower cover is removed there is a white fitting with an overflow this is where the water is coming from. If I remove the shower head and hose the water runs properly but as soon as hose is replaced water runs from both hose and overflow, when shower head replaced water gushes down the wall. This has happened overnite as was working ok prior to xmas!!!

Ive got a drip from my gainsborough shower when it is turned off. Is there a washer or seal that I can replace?

We've just tried that and it water is still gushing from the overflow pipe..we cant put too much tape on the ball otherwise we won't get it back into the pipe..any suggestions?

There's a small relief ball at the back, wrap some ptfe tape around the ball and replace it, should work ok as it's happened to mine twice.
