Computers have motherboards - the main circuit board into which most other components connect.
Domestic appliances usually have Printed Circuit control Boards (PCB) to run and control the various functions.
PCBs are often placed close to the control switches and above the natural water line i.e. top front of the machine.
With a front loading machine the control electronics are just under the top lid.
