1998 Volvo S70 - ignition dinger and floor light stays on?

1998 Volvo S70 -
There is an electronic sensor in the driver's door that works in conjunction with the ignition, dinger and floor light.
The dinger and floor light stay on unless I really slam the door shut.
Where is the sensor and how do I adjust it so that it works properly?
Harry Sanderson, December 2009
The sensor is integrated with the door latch. Over time, the door has begun to sag on its hinges which affects the alignment of the door when closed. The mis-alignment prevents the completion of the electrical circuit that terminates the dinger upon closing the door.
The latch on the door or on the door post can be loosened and reset to get things back into alignment.
