My battery wont charge on my 89 Toyota hilux Desil turbo?

With my hilux the alternator light is on when im using the car and it will only last a few starts untill the battery goes flat. I think there must be somthing wrong with the alternator but it all looks fine to me does anybody know what the porblem with the alternator might be or if its another problem if so please say.

alternator has had it or fan belt slipping?usually one or the other when battery only lasts a little while

hi arley, if the battery light is on the dash when engine is running it is the alternator at fault,& this can be down to many internal faults,it will be easier & cheaper in the long run to change the complete alternator, hope this help's, happy new year
