Remove the starter device from the saw.
Pull out the cord approx 12ins and lift it up into the notch in the pulley.
Zero set the recoil spring by slowly letting it rotate backwards.
Undo the screw in the centre of the pulley and remove the pulley.
Fasten a new starter cord in the pulley and wind approx 3 turns onto the pulley, re-set the against the recoil spring so the end of the spring engages with the pulley and re-fit the centre screw.
Thread the cord through the hole in the starter housing and then through the handle securing it with a tight knot.
The cord will be loose in the starter housing, lift the cord up into the notch on the pulley and turn the pulley 2 turns clockwise, finally checking that the pulley can still be turned a half a turn with the starter cord pullede fully out.
This sounds complicated but do it a step at a time with the saw in front of you and things should go smoothly.
Regards & Good Luck.
