I have exactly the same problem with my Hoover TV30, it appears my belt has snapped but cannot gain access to the inside at all. The galvanised cover at the back gives access to the electrics only and after taking the 3 screws off the top...I cannot lift or slide the top. I have managed to crack the plastic at the front in trying to lift so now getting angry!
