Hoover Maxi 6 TV30?

My belt appears to have broken and yet I cannot gain access to it to repair. There are 3 screws at the top back of the lid which I have unscrewed but it does not move, everything else seems to be permanent and does not unscrew. What do I have to do to get the top off?
