My new upright Maytag Bravos MCT washer will not restart even after I redistribute the clothes when I get mssage on the screen saying uL for unbalanced load or FL. What can I do? So far, I
have to turn off the washer and set it on a special rinse only cycle. In all cases the washer was not overloaded--a medium load.

After I closed the lid and pushed start it didn't work. I had to push the power button first then start and it worked.

I have owned this machine for a year now and am VERY disappointed in the problems I face with this machine becoming unbalanced with heavier loads. I bought this expensive, large capacity machine so I could do quilts, throw rugs, etc. I spend SO MUCH TIME trying to manuever one queen sized quilt. I just...finally got the machine to finish the cycle. I am only 5' 1" and the tub is very deep so it is diffiult for me to bend over the basket to try to move a soaking wet quilt to the point it will eventually spin the water out! VERY FRUSTRATING! I liked my much cheaper and 10-year old Kenmore washer much better!!

I have the same issue. It happens when I pause the washer during its self-balance routine to help it out. You'd think it (or the programmers) would appreciate the help redistributing the load, but it just sends the washer into a frozen-up state. I guess our options are to either power down and then just run a rinse like you suggest, or allow the thing to bang the hell out of itself trying to rebalance itself while we cringe and wait.

Makes me wonder, can Maytag do firmware updates on these things that allow a resume from pause in this state? Anyone at Maytag reading up?
