UNPLUG THE UNIT FROM THE ELECTRICITY BEFORE DOING ANY OF THIS!
On the Zanussi TC470 there IS an auto cut-off switch which trips if the element starts to overheat. This can happen if the small fan belt (behind the white plastic rear plate) fails or comes off. This causes the fan to stop rotating. The air from the fan blows across the heater element to stop it overheating and that heated air dries your clothes. To re-set the switch it is necessary to remove the heater element (behind the larger, metal oval-ish rear plate), because the re-set switch is on the drum side of the element. The re-set button is next to the bi-metal strip and you will see that it has popped up in the centre of its own small rectangular plate. Push the button down until it clicks or doesn't pop out again. Reassemble, making sure to replace the fan belt according to the diagram embossed on the front of the white plastic rear plate, in a figure 8 layout with left hand turned towards you.
Brush out or vacuum the grooves in the pulleys before fitting the new belt, in case debris caused the belt to fail or come off in the first place. Do not use any lubricant to clean the pulleys as this will reduce the friction needed to drive the pulleys and therefore the fan, which would then cause the auto cut-off to pop again.

Auto reset,no button. stats are rivetted on heater unit itself. Either component failure of heater, or possibly drivebelt for hot air fan(behind white rear cover) has fallen off so heater gets too hot without fan and cuts off.

Does the drum turn ok? If not then it may be the door switch - there's a microswitch behind the plastic panel right at the top of the unit ....take off the lid and you should see it. There's a 'prong' on the centre top of the door and it pushes the microswitch in....this is the door sensor so if the dryer thinks the door is open then the drum and the heater won't turn on.

The housing of the microswitch sometimes breaks - you can use a tie wrap to keep the microswitch in place.
