8 hp Briggs Carb?

I am working on an older Snapper riding mower. It has an 8 hp Briggs motor on it. The problem that I am having is that after running the mower, gas flows either out of the carb or into the crankcase. I replaced the head gasket and to took the carb apart to clean it. This one has me stumped?

Rick is right - its the float - very sensitive

Fuel in the crankcase can be a bomb. Don't run the engine without changing the oil first.
Your inlet needle is not shutting off the fuel flow into the carb.
When you had the carb apart did you rebuild it? It could be one of three things. A damaged needle, damaged or displaced seat or fuel in the float. If the float feels heavy or rattles replace it.
