Hello. I have a old Pfaff sewing machine that I picked up for cheap at a store. It is the kind with the built in, fold out table/cabinet. I tried to find out more about it and was told that it is a Japanese knockoff of one of the older WW2 Zigzag machines.

The model says it is a Calanda 650. On the read of the machine is a metal plate that reads "Precision Built De Luxe. Made in Japan.

On the side it says Made for Pfaff House Hold sewing machine distributors. And under the machine on the edge it has a # JA19NA27731 . I still dont know anything about this machine.

Now my problem is that I was sewing last night and in the middle of sewing the power went out. It seems it blew a fuse. All the lights in my room except for the bathroom light went out so I checked the breakerbox and flipped the switch, then flipped the button on the extention cord box which it is plugged into. As soon as I did that the power went out again. I tried plugging the machine into another outlet and it went out again and then tried it without the pedal, just plugged the 2 cords into the power outlet but it blew again.

Now My pedal is half not working. It is the older metal pedal with the knee extender and no bottom on the pedal so when I put it on my carpet to use for the 1st time, one of the springs snagged in the carpet and pulled out so now the machine will only run at top speed and no speed control unless I push the pedal all the way down.

I have used this machine for a few months with no issues up to now and I am right in the middle of sewing a project! Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Michael,
If you are sure it is the machine that is tripping the box then you really need to get it checked out, it could be a break in the cord itself or just the foot control, your machine was made in Japan and probably a type that is distributed to many other manufacturers who put their name on it and sell it at a low cost machine.

**EDIT** I stated that it blew a fuse, I think that was the incorrect term. The lights went out and the breaker box switch was changed to Off. I flipped the switch each time the power went out. I guess that is different then a actual fuse. Just wanted to clear that up in case the wording was wring.
