it means exactly what it says A B S is not functioning althought the normal braking system will not be affected you could check the sensor wiring for bad connections and the toothed sensor wheel for damage but failing any obvious problems it will have to go on a diagnostic machine to determine the cause and remember A B S faults are an M O T failure
