If it aint got pedals (like a pushbike) it aint a moped it's a motorscooter or motorbike.

yeah bb they all say that on the tax class bit gay isnt it! and yes i agree they are a bunch of tossers at the dvla i bought a motorhispania rx 50 once to sell and it said lancia cupria cpry 1.3 on the v5 i have never even heard of that lancia and it cartainly wasnt a spanish moped lol.but we are all doomed by them and we cant do shi* about it.

yes thats right, but by definition they are the controlling body so if they say a 50cc is a moped then they are right.so anything over that you can class as a motorcycle if you like but if it looks like a scooter then its is a scooter and if a scooter is 50cc or under then its a moped.you could ask them(the dvla) to change their categorisation brackets but they wont listen to you i can assure you.

Think you will find there only called mopeds because the goverment say so(dvla), i have been riding lambrettas on and off for 40 years, when i started riding,a moped was moped, a scooter was scooter and a motorbike was a motorbike.

a scooter is type of bike, but they are not all classed as mopeds,officially a moped is a 50cc two wheeled engine powered road vehicle pedals or no pedals a derbis senda 50 sm for instance has a 6 speed gearbox and clutch ect but is still classed as a moped as is a honda camino with pedals.so a scooter over 50 cc isnt a moped its a scooter.A scooter looks like either lambretta or vespa's design if its a geared one or if its an automatic scooter then it looks like an automatic scooter! there are lots of different variants though from the italjet dragster to the standard style honda dylan looking things.i like the italjet dragster though they are the daddy of scooters and thats why i have got two of them.along with another 22 motorbikes :)
