Occasional rumbling noise from Kangoo Trekka?

I have a 2002 1.6 petrol with lpg conversion Renault Kangoo Trekka 4 by 4. There is an occasional rumbling noise which varies with speed. Is this normal? I know it has a heavier axle/differential than conventional 2 wheel drive. The car is normally just in front 2 wheel drive and only transfers to rear wheel as well, when the front loses some traction.
Many thanks.

i have renewed the rear bearing, but the problem at first was the outersteel rim of the torsion vibation damper dislodged itself from it's rubber bonding, i was told that i could take the steel rim off and reconnect it and it will still work, alas i have a vibration when a reach 45rpm do i need to replace the damper.

This sounds like the prop shaft support bearings are getting tired. Also check the torsional vibration damper is correctly bonded to the rubber carrier. The bearings can be changed and the propshaft rebalanced for around £200.
