Main oven door cannon stratford 10535g mk2?

I have repalced the glass on the main oven door of my Cannon 10535g MK2 gas cooker. When I have come to re attach the main oven door the screws on the hinges will not tighten. Any idea what i ahev done wrong?

the problem lies with a backplate behind the main body of the cooker behind the hinge position i fixed mine with some thin bolts with split washers to keep it tight make sure you have a second person helping as its a bugger if it slips on you
