In my case the solution was easy: if you take off the top (by removing two hex head screws securing the back of the top, and lifting up the top from the back edge), you'll see a large white wire connector inside at the back on the right hand side. This has two pink wires and one blue wire coming to it from the main selector switch. In my case, the blue wire connector had come out slightly, visibly protruding above the outline of the plastic connector which held the two pink wires in place, and this was breaking the circuit to the two heating elements. All I did was to press the blue-wired plastic connector back in to place firmly and the heating elements worked again. Problem solved in about 15 minutes.
