aeg oko favorit 5040 salt dispenser?

although salt dispenser is full,salt has stopped coming out,have tried altering dial setting for salt!

could be a faulty valve on the water softner but if you let it run out and filled it with a lot of salt you could take the salt lid off and pour cold water in it whilst stirrring it around to help dilute it a bit
