Magic chef will not start new wash, but will rinse and spin?

I assume that this problem could be associated with any washing machine. I tried to start a new wash on every program and time...it will not work. If you set the dial to rinse or spin the machine works. Does that mean it is not the motor but the control?

Hello,

If you are washing with hot water and rinsing with cold it could be a failed or clogged water fill valve on the hot side.
