abs traction control lights?

the abs and traction control lights came on while driving in snow turned ignition off and on but lights come back on

Mates BMW did that in the snow too, so much wheel spin had confused the computer. The dealer told him to drive the car steady for a hundred yards or so to allow the computer to re-calibrate, which did work.
