husqvarna 266xp starts but won't reach full speed?

My husqvarna will start but sputters and will never rev up and dies out after the trigger is released. What can cause this problem?

THE SCREEN IN THE MUFFLER IS PROBABLY PLUGGED. THIS SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME AS WELL. I THOUGHT THE SAW WAS RUINED, BUT IT WAS JUST A PLUGGED SCREEN IN THE MUFFLER.

GOOD LUCK

Check yoyr fuel filter which is located in the gas tank, most likely it is clogged. They are cheap tp replace and should be part of yearly maintanance.

Check the muffler to see if it's plugged up. A plugged muffler will cause backpressure in the crank case which will prevernt the carb sending enough gas to speed up the saw. Too rich an oil mixture will do that to the saw; plug up the muffler. Remove the cover and clean the holes in it.
