Fiat Ducato 2.8 JTD Battery - Jump Start/Charge?

Hi I own a 2003 model which is a Long Wheel Base Autotrail motorhome. It hasn't been started since mid December and the battery is now discharged. I went to attach the charger leads and there is one hell of an "arrangement" over the Positive terminal which I have never come across before. Where do you attach the leads? as apart from the obvious one, there are some 6 more. Any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This answer is 2 years out of date but the best way to sort it is by using your onboard charging system to bring your vehicle battery back to life Cheers Tony

you can attach the lead to any of the positive terminals. Just make sure it is a firm connection to a substantial fitting as there will be a lot of current being passed when you operate the starter. I have a burstner with the 2.8 engine and I know the 'arrangement' to which you refer. I am also a qualified auto electrician.

Thanks Ronnie I figured it probably is (£68.00) and the solar advice is helpful. Thanks Malcolm

Hi Malcolm,

Attach it to any of the bolts nearest to you I find the left hand front one easiest. If you leave a battery disharged like that you shorten its lifespan dramatically.

Not sure about your connection problem but suggest you buy a small solar charger from maplin(about £10-£15) and leave connected.I have a similar van and use this without any problems, also have a larger solar panel on my static van and use 12v lighting through-out without problems, suspect your battery may be knackered,
best of luck
