Peugeot 306 2.0 XSi will not start?

Help!!! I have a peugeot 306 2.0 XSi 1997 P plate. The car turns over ok but there is no spark. I can smell fuel at the engine. I thought it might be the crankshaft sensor (as did mr rac ) so changed this but there is no difference.
Anybody got any ideas that does not involve a gallon of petrol and a match!!!
Thanks
Dave

I had the same problem when I put the 2 litre conversion into my 1.4 after much swearing and cursing I traced it to a earth strap missing. JUst get a good piece of wire and earth it from the body to the engine. It still nay not work for every with similar proble
m but it is worth a try atleast.

it could be your leads just not sending electric down

there are various types of coil pack, but the most common one looks like a long plastic box & sits directly on top of the spark plugs..
