my screen wash was working fine but running low, so naturally i filled it up and now it won't spray at all! I can't see any obvious kinks or breaks in the cable but even that wouldn't explain how simply taking off the lid of the screen wash container and filling up would stop it working at all! car is Audi 80 sport H reg
Does washing the water reserve with a garden hose not damage the engine, with all the excess water?

Old screenwash can form like a gel which blocks the pipes and jets. I use a strong water jet (garden hose) to wash out the washer reservoir when this happens. When cleaned out, refill with fresh washer fluid and you should be OK again.

There is a little filter on the bottom of the washer pump and it is most likely blocked by all the manky screenwash left in the bottom of the bottle. Should be easy to remove the pump and then the filter can be wiped clean.
