thanks for your help problem solved it was actually both bulbs that had gone at the same time .
wife can now go on nights ..lol ..peace at last

i have looked on the inner cover nothing on it the full beam works but the main beam does not im sure its when i adjusted the raise and lower beam with the little wheel inside the car that caused them to go im just stuck for the fuse number i have looked by eye and all the matallic strips across the fuse seemsto be ok . just wondering if its under the bonnet

check does the head bulb have 1 or 2 filaments inside it ?
one element could have failed but the other will still work OK.
fuse box inner cover normally tells you what fuse protects what circuit.
check does it share a fuse with another circuit? does this other circuit work
