please explain?

have a vw golf diesel car. find that the engine is still warm after 2 hours. why.

This sounds normal.
I am guessing the temp gauge is normal when you drive?

Water and oil ok?

Basically the engine warms up when you drive it thanks to friction and moving parts also though the the fact diesel is burnt.. lots of things.
This warms oil which lubricates your engine and water which cools it down. but any big block of metal holds heat and takes a while to cool down...
