My brakes have gone spongy on my 206 and handbrake barely works?

My front brakes are fine, had them replaced not long ago, but my pedal has become increasigly spongey making it horrible to drive. I have a peugeot 206 yr 2000. How can i fix this

problem appears to be with the back brakes. have a look around the back of the wheel & see if you can see brake fluid, if you can, the wheel cylinder will almost certainly be leaking. another common problem with small french cars, is the brake lining material can become detached from the brake shoes, causing excessive pedal travel or wheel lock up. either way, the brake drum will have to come off.
