fuel problem Transit 109 D LWB?

Transit starts ok after about 10 miles it runs sluggish and stops if I bleed the injectors starts ok I have changed fuel filter ,problem continues ,any one got any ideas

I had this problem with my transit van; it was the fuel pump. It took a long time to start then kicked out a lot of black smoke.
