If the transmission is unplugged or in limp mode there will be no soleniods working and therefore no low gears in D. However you should still be able to get 3 out of 4 gears by manual selecting them. There should be a fault light, flashing 'S' or display panel. Get the codes read. This box is usually strong and the fault may be minor.
