oil central heating hot water works heating doesn't ?

we have oil central heating and our heating isn't working unless we have the water switched on and some of the raditors heat up. any ideas what has happened???

sound as if your zone valve or three way valve is not opperating. It will heat the water and the last few radiator on the run are heating
