panic button?

i have took the cover off the panic button and the alarm went off after putting my code in i twisted the red and black wires together and it set the alarm off again and if i remove the cover from the main panel it sets the alarm off inside the panic button it as a glass tube with wires inside it must be the reed switch but if i leave this out the alarm will not set and if i twist the red and black wires together it sets the alarm off

Hi Paul, the glass tube inside the panic button is what we call the reed switch, there will be a wire either end, remove these wires, and twist the ends together, by doing this, it will effectivley isolate the panic button.
Message to death, i think we will have to use better ways to describe the process of what we are explaining. Ive recieved calls from Ireland, Scotland, and all over the UK in the last few days, and we should rememeber the general public are not security engineers.
A few people have mentioned they dont understand what we mean by looping out a zone.
