remove Adware?

I don't know which sites I have visited wrong to cause the constant advertising popups. May be something has sneaked into my system? don't know, but the ads just disturb me from my work. Help!

Spybot Search and Destroy should do the trick as Peccavi says. Ad-Aware from Lavasoft is worth a try too. Some versions require you to pay but there is a free version for personal home computer use. As with antivirus programs it is important to keep them up to date and run a scan from time to time.

1) Disable all entries in the machine's startup list (free)
2) Use Firefox Browser (free)
3) Download & Run Spybot Search & Destroy (free) & have it fix all problems found.

There may be other and better solutions - this works for me - now and again (rarely) a window pops up from Spybot saying that a certain site is trying to modify something in my machine - should I allow or deny it?

I get no pop-ups.

Good luck...
