Timing a DW8 engine?

I wish to know the position of the timing pin hole on the camshaft. All diagrams show it (using the clockface system) as about 5, the hole that I have found in that position has somthing in it, another hole at about 10 is a threaded hole but that does not line up. is it posible a previuos attempt at timing has resulted in the hole being blocked. If that is the case what can be done.
