How can i fix my Peugeot 50cc X-Race 03?

Hi,

I have the above scooter. It has had some problems starting on the electric start but always started fine on the kickstart....eventually. When i took it out the other day it cut out the second i tried to accelerate and it hasn't started since. I fully charged the battery and tried it again but suddenly smoke started pouring out of the ACI100 immobiliser unit. I took the connector out and looking at it the smoke seems to be coming from the connection point where the red cable (which as far as i can see connects up to the ignition) connects to the ACI100 unit. The smoke i think has come from heat buildup in the actual connector, melting the white plastic. Smoke only appears when i turn the ignition on. No idea if this is a problem with the electrics or if it is an immobiliser problem? Don't really want to spend over £100 on one of those CDI bypass unit things if it is an electrical problem. I have the chipped key also. When it isn't smoking (cause i haven't turned the key) the immobliser red light is on all the time which I'm pretty sure it hasn't done before (though not sure if it was a problem before or is a problem now...?).

Any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi there,
those immobilsers on speedfights are a real weak point. I would suspect this however to be sure you could get it tested first. I am pretty sure if you ask nicely and for a small fee your local dealer will do for you. Afraid the only other way is to but another one! I would be pretty sure in saying this is more than likely your problem. Never heard one do this before though
Good Luck
