take batteries out of main phone remove power cable and phone line from cradle for about 5 minutes replace phone in cradle after reconnecting power line and telephone line and press intercom button for about 10 seconds and the phone should come on again. however it does not seem to be a permanent solution as it will sometimes go back to searching again. I think the problem is with the transformer overheating when it gets older.
